This is the drink of fall. I’ve been having one almost daily & let me just say apples & chai are meant to be! This apple pie iced chai is going to be your new favorite.
APPLE PIE SYRUP:
2 cups chopped apple (I used honeycrisp)
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon lemon juice
Pinch of salt
1/2 cup water
- Add the apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, lemon juice, & salt to a sauce pan over medium-low heat. Mix together often as the apple releases its juices & the mixture starts to bubble.
- Stir until the apples are softened, about 10 minutes. Let cool.
- Once mixture is cool, puree it using a small blender or food processor. Add the water to create a thinner puree.
- Run the puree through a fine mesh strainer & into a clean jar to create the syrup
APPLE PIE ICED CHAI:
3 oz chai tea
3 oz chai concentrate
4 oz milk
Apple pie syrup to taste (I used about 1 1/2 teaspoons)
Chai spice to garnish (home chai spice recipe here)
- Steep one chai tea bag in about 3 oz of water for 5 minutes. Remove the tea bag & let cool.
- Add ice to a glass & pour the chai tea & chai concentrate over ice.
- In a separate glass, froth the milk & apple pie syrup until thick & frothy.
- Pour over the iced chai & top with a sprinkle of chai spice.
